Enabling better practice

2006 - 2019

Since 2006, I've lectured at schools including two Universities of Applied Sciences (Rotterdam and Amsterdam), and co-taught modules in MBA courses at University of Amsterdam (Design-Driven Business Innovation) and the Hotelschool the Hague (Hospitality Experience Design). At two of these schools (RUAS and the Hotelschool the Hague), I've created new courses, including an entirely new foundation course in interaction design, with accompanying book.

In addition, I create tailor-made courses for companies to help them achieve specific goals, for example, improving a product or service that's in trouble, or the strategic renewal of a brand, or a transition to a new business model or medium.

TestImonialS

He was one of the best lecturers I've had during my entire time at college, constantly encouraging me and my classmates to push harder and reach our full potential. James is very strict during his first classes, and he has a tendency to drill students and get them to pay attention. This definitely helps and I feel it gives students the discipline they so desperately need as they're starting out. James is a really friendly and wise person, though, especially once you get to know him. I've learned a lot from him and I hope others will too!

EDWIN DE JONGH - EXPERIENCE DESIGNER AT AIRBNB

When I was in my first year of Communication & Multimedia Design, James was my teacher in Interaction Design. I have never met such a motivated and enthusiastic teacher. Maybe he was even too enthusiastic and full of energy for some first-year students, but it definitely had a positive effect on me (and a lot of classmates) and my feeling for Interaction Design. James is a nice and professional person and he is always available for feedback, discussions or questions.

CYRILLE RENTIER, DIRECTOR OF INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AT MIRABEAU, A COGNIZANT DIGITAL BUSINESS

I would recommend James to anyone! James has a unique way of teaching due to his varied background. His vivid illustrations, case studies and examples made the classes appealing. He’s very motivated and his passion for interaction design and user experience design is extraordinary. His in-depth insights stimulated me to think differently; on a more theoretical level. Mainly because of these insights I decided that I wanted to learn more about new media on a theoretical level. This led to a master course. Great time, great teacher!
